Forging Economic Alliances: Highlights from the 2020 Taiwan-Czech Republic Economic, Trade, and Investment Forum

The 2020 Taiwan-Czech Republic Economic, Trade, and Investment Forum was organized to promote bilateral industrial cooperation and exchanges and assist businesses in grasping new business opportunities in the post-pandemic era.

The Forum theme focused on three major industries: IoT and AI, green economy, and startups, matching with the key areas of Taiwan’s 5+2 innovative industries and the 6 core strategic industries, and Czech’s industrial priorities in attracting foreign investments.

To strengthen the bilateral cooperation, three MoUs were signed: one between Taiwan's Asia Silicon Valley Development Agency (ASVDA) and the Czech agency of Science and Technology Advanced Region (STAR) on Smart City & AIoT, A similar cooperation developed between Taiwan's Business Next Media Corp. and Czech-Taiwanese Business Chamber on innovative entrepreneurship. Another example was the agreement between Taiwan's Precision Machinery Research and Development Center and the Czech-Taiwanese Business Chamber on Smart Machinery.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Miloš Vystrčil, President of the Czech Senate; Wang Mei-Hua, Minister of Economic Affairs (MOEA) in Taiwan; and Kung Ming-Hsin, Minister of the National Development Council in Taiwan, and Pavel Divis, Chairman of the Czech Taiwanese Business Chamber.
